Wu Guanzhong was a towering figure in Chinese art in the 20th century and beyond, garnering much international acclaim. Throughout his life, he pursued the convergence of East and West, bringing together the aesthetics of traditional Chinese ink and modern Western art in his works. He dedicated his life to building a bridge, one that bridges the East and the West, the laymen and the experts, and the figurative and the abstract.
HKDance joins hands with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to present the Wu Guanzhong Art Sponsorship Cross-disciplinary Series: Grand Dance Poem In Between—Wu Guanzhong’s Ink Odyssey. The piece features renowned artist and singer-songwriter Ivana Wong, alongside French artists to explore the visual elements of dots, lines, and planes through movement, music, and lighting. It intricately weaves the fluidity of ink with emotion, opening up a dialogue between Chinese and Western cultures across different media and in multiple dimensions.
This programme is co-organised by the Hong Kong Museum of Art, French May Arts Festival as the Cultural Partner, and is a programme of the Chinese Culture Festival 2026.
